FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
All you need to know about visiting our farm!
If you have a question that you don't see below, please reach out via our contact form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
We are by appointment ONLY. Please check our website for upcoming farm tours or events. If you have trouble, please always reach out to us and we are happy to help as we love to have visitors!
During our farm tours we will be walking around the farm. We suggest dressing in closed-toe shoes that you don't mind getting a little dirt on!
We are dog lovers at heart. We have three! However, coyotes are natural predators for highlands and dogs often resemble coyotes. The highlands are scared of dogs and it's dangerous for your animals and ours!
Absolutely! We always offer time to explore the farm and see the highlands up close! You can brush, pet, and take non-professional photos during the events.
Make sure you connect with us on social media and join our newsletter! Both are great resources to find out when events are being released on the farm.
Yes! Farm tours happen rain or shine (unless dangerous weather presents itself) and other events can take place in our barn! Owners make the decision to reschedule if unfavorable weather conditions present themselves.
It is preferable you have at least two highlands or two goats. Both species of animals are social and enjoy company. Neither will be happy without a friend!
Shoot us an email so we can add you to our waitlist. We do not sell our animals until weaning. For the highlands that is around 6-7 months. For goats, that is closer to 6-8 weeks old.
All farm tours and events are non-refundable. No exceptions. Tours and events help provide feed, care, vet bills, etc. for the animals. Please make sure that you are able to attend the event or day of your farm tour BEFORE booking.
Unfortunately, we are unable to reschedule a farm tour. The only exception is if weather is an issue and that is left to the discretion of Crooked Creek Highlands. If you are unable to attend your tour, please let us know and then rebook for another date using our website.
Unfortunately, we are no longer able to give credit towards future events if you have a scheduling conflict or other issue that arise. Due to the unique nature of events, we can no longer give credit. Please make sure before you book that you can attend the event on that date. If not, we kindly ask that you rebook for a future event.
We have a port-a-potty available for use during tours and events. Additionally, we have hand-sanitizer for guests. If you need to use the bathroom before arriving, please stop in Union Grove (off 77) or Ronda (off 421). Both locations have a gas station with a restroom.
We strongly encourage you to use the bathroom prior to arrival so you can spend more time enjoying the cows. Late start times do not prolong your tour.
We do not breed or have "mini-highlands". Many, so called "mini-highlands" generally have health issues that are detrimental long-term. We strive to raise healthy and genetically secure animals. Highlands in generally are a smaller and slower growing breed. If you see small highlands on our social media, they are babies and not full grown.
We do not have a photographer on site but we work with several local photographers or you are welcome to bring your own photographer. We can make recommendations for photographers!
During tours or events, we are happy to take non-professional photos with the cows!
If you have arrived for your tour and the gate is closed, please park in the grass area in front of the shed. We kindly ask that you remain in the car and do not wander the property or open the gate.
We know you are here and will be with you shortly! Occasionally, tours run late. You do not need to call unless you have been waiting more than 15 minutes past your scheduled tour time. If no one answers, we are likely still on the farm tour. Please send us an email at megan@crookedcreekhighlands.com
Also, we are CLOSED on Sundays except for rare special events.
